Sound effects and party music for children’s entertainers

Thirty effects arranged where your fingers expect them, and the party playlist running underneath the lot.

Thirty effects in fixed positions. The same sound is under the same finger in every show, which is what makes it usable with a room full of six-year-olds in front of you.

A room full of six-year-olds does not wait

The gap between the pratfall and the boing is the whole joke. Scrolling a phone list to find it is not an option, and neither is the music stopping every time you want a noise. What you need is a wall of sounds in fixed positions, each one press away, on top of music that keeps going.

Four banks of pads, fixed positions

Lay out your effects and they stay where you put them, so you can find one without looking. Four banks means dozens of sounds arranged by act — party games on one, the magic set on another. Shrinking the grid hides assignments rather than destroying them, so nothing is lost when you rearrange.

Music underneath, effects on top

Set the effects to overlay and the party music dips while a noise plays, then comes back up. No dead air, no stopping and restarting, nothing to fumble. Or set one to interrupt if it should take over — a fanfare for the birthday child, say.

When your hands are covered in cake

A cheap Bluetooth numeric keypad is the best pad controller there is and needs no setup at all — the computer already thinks it is a keyboard, and the number keys fire the first ten pads. Put it on a table where you can reach it by feel, or give it to a parent to operate.

What matters most here

Pads fire instantly

Anything under a minute is decoded into memory when the show loads, so the first press is sample-accurate rather than merely fast.

Press again to stop

A pad is a play/stop toggle. Or set it to restart, or to layer copies on top — useful for applause that needs to build.

One click loads a whole party

Star a show as a favorite and the running order and every pad come back together, so Saturday’s party and Sunday’s are two clicks, not two setups.

Big, readable rows

Scale the text up and read the list from across a church hall, in bold if it helps.

What it does not do. There is no library of sounds included beyond a handful of demo effects — you bring your own, or buy a pack. It plays what you give it.

Questions

How many sound effects can I have ready at once?

Up to sixty-four pads per bank and up to eight banks, though most people use a grid of twelve or thirty. The first ten of whichever bank is on screen are on the number keys, and you can assign any key to any pad.

Can the music carry on while an effect plays?

Yes. Set the pad to overlay and the music dips underneath it, then returns. Set it to interrupt and it stops the music instead — each pad remembers which it is.

Can somebody else run the sound while I perform?

Yes — the pad wall pops out into its own window, so it can go on a second screen or a touchscreen next to a helper while you keep the running order in front of you. There is still only one thing making sound, however many windows are open.
